Connectors of PV systems are comprised of plugs and sockets. These plugs and sockets come inside plastic covers designed with the standard male-female interface in mind. The plug comes inside a cylindrical cover reminding the female portion of the connector, although it's regarded as the male one. The socket comes inside a square-shaped element resembling the male portion of the connector, but its electrical function is that of the female portion of the connector. The female portion of the connector is fitted with two plastic pins that need to be pressed slightly towards the central element to make it possible to insert the pins into the holes in the front part of the female portion of the connector.
